Do206 Interview: Shelby Earl

It's no secret that team Do206 are big fans of Shelby Earl. Not only is she an amazing singer and musician, but she also has a wicked sense of humor and is an avid supporter of music in Seattle. If you're not hip to her most recent album "Swift Arrows", stop what your doing and scold yourself because it's an absolutely gorgeous record that deserves multiple spins. Shelby is also playing on 4/30 at Barboza - so we caught up with her and got her to answer some questions:

When you think "Seattle Music" what band/song do you think of?
There are obviously a lot of different directions to go with this one, but truthfully, when I think of "Seattle music" I immediately think of Death Cab For Cutie, Photobooth. There's something quintessentially Northwest about it to me. Probably because it came out at a very formative time in my Seattle life, but also because I feel like I can hear the rain in that song.

If you did a karaoke version of "Hunger Strike" would you pick the Vedder or Cornell part?
Vedder. I admire Chris Cornell, but he also scares me a little. I wouldn't even attempt to emulate him.

Favorite Seattle hideout/hangout spot?
I hang at Cicchetti in Eastlake a lot. I live nearby and know all the folks who work there so the wine flows like water when I go in. That's my main requirement for a hang.

Favorite record store?
My favorite record store is Sonic Boom. I love those bros and they've been super supportive of me and my music throughout the years.

Seattle band that we don't know about that you know about that you want to tell us about?
Church Girls. It's my side-project rock band. It hasn't actually started yet, but when it does, LOOK OUT, it's going to crush skulls.
