The Co Founder's new album 'Wye' is available now via Bandcamp
_____________________________________________
Bellingham trio The Co Founder spent time in various garages and living rooms recording 'Wye,' an album that combines driving indie-rock guitars with daydream vocals and warm arrangements. With the release of 'Wye' and a two week tour on the way, we spoke to bassist Luke Hogfoss and vocalist Hayden Eller about the recording process, their favorite Seattle spots, and Slim Jims.

Tell us a little about the recording process for Wye - what were some highlights and challenges of the process?
Luke Hogfoss: We recorded Wye in so many different living rooms and garages. This album has seen a lot. It’s a well-traveled album and it hasn’t even gone on tour yet. This made it difficult to naturally combine all the sounds in a congruent fashion. It also made it really fun to make a lot out of a little.
Hayden Eller: The whole experience was kind of one giant highlight/challenge. We had a pretty set goal in mind for what we were looking to come away from the recording process with, so it was equal parts terrifying and exciting going through the ups and downs of making that a reality. Working with someone who is a good friend of ours (Tye Hastings) made a big difference – Tye worked just as hard as the three of us did to make sure we met the deadlines we set for ourselves without sacrificing quality.
The Co Founder West Coast Tour Dates
What are you most looking forward to on tour?
Hogfoss: Eating Slim Jims
Eller: We’ve had a pretty relaxed show schedule for the past two months, so I’m stoked to get to play shows with two of my best friends for two weeks straight. Touring is the motive behind for everything else we do – it’s a really rad experience.
Where are some of your favorite Seattle spots?
Hogfoss: In terms of venues I’ve really been enjoying Chop Suey, including the back bar that has been throwing shows. For food – Alladin’s, Duck Island (fried chicken), Dick’s, Rancho Bravo (lengua), Bongos, and any gas station that sells Slim Jims.
Eller: Alki Beach is a cool spot that I’d never been to until recently. We only have two record stores in Bellingham though, so probably Singles Going Steady down on 2nd Ave. For live shows, probably The Showbox or The Crocodile Back Bar.
Don't miss The Co Founder tour kickoff show at The Crocodile Back Bar Sept. 22nd with Female Fiends and Candysound.
